Cross Laminated Timber

CLT is the name for Cross Laminate Timber which is an engineered wood panel product made of multiple layers of kiln dried dimension lumber or structural composite lumber (SCL) billets.

Primarily used for floors, roofs and walls. CLT panels come in different sizes and strengths and have properties similar to a concrete slab. Dowco includes the detailing of CLT in all Mass Timber models for ease of fabrication, shipping and erection.

CLT Detailing

CLT panels are fabricated in specialized mills, cut to size and precisely machined with openings for windows, doors, stairwells using computer numerical control (CNC) routers prior to shipping to the construction site. Glulam

Glued Laminated Timber, or Glulam, is a type of structural timber product that is made by gluing together layers of wood (laminates) to create large, strong, and durable beams and columns. Glulam is often used in construction as an alternative to steel or concrete, and is known for its versatility, strength, and aesthetic appeal. Due to it's strength and ability to span long distances, Glulam is gaining popularity in the construction of commercial buildings, roofs, bridges, and other large structures. Glulam is also often used in exposed applications, such as in the construction of timber frame buildings, where its natural beauty is on display.

Glulam Modeling

Dowco specializes in creating digital models of glulam structures using BIM (Building Information Modeling) software such as Tekla and Cadwork. The models can be used for a variety of purposes, including design, analysis, visualization, and of course to generate drawings for construction. Dowco provides Glulam modeling services to architects, engineers, suppliers and contractors. Our scope is to create accurate and detailed models of glulam structures, and detailed design and fabrication drawings for Mass Timber projects.
